As a second-generation family business, we’re proud of our decades serving many other family businesses in the Lumber and Building Materials (LBM) industry. Our lumber tags and barcode labels support customers from forest to sawmill to kiln to manufacturing floor and distribution warehouse—and in some cases, vertically integrated customers that use our solutions at every step of their process. This is illustrated in this retro-reflective signage project.
Made to Order Retro-Reflective Signage
One vertically integrated forest product customer realized they could go one step further than labels, and made the decision to add retro-reflective barcoded signs to each of their distribution warehouse locations for fast, long-distance scanning as orders were pulled.
They evaluated printing the retro-reflective labels themselves on their existing thermal transfer printers, but realized we could do the project faster with more features such as color-coding. Just as they finished putting up the signage, they realized they had forgotten to order five numbers, and asked if we could print a second order, “Even if it is just handful?”
“Of course!” we replied, and they soon had the forgotten five labels to finish their important project. The end result was improved inventory accuracy while reducing shipping errors—showing up directly in statistics such as On Time In Full (OTIF) performance.
