Sustainable business practices and environmental consciousness are important to The Label Experts. Over the years we’ve made an effort to hunt down environmentally friendly label materials. Drumroll please… duh duh dun! Are you looking for an environmentally friendly alternative to vinyl labels? We’ve found one!
Our 537 label is a greener vinyl labels alternative, with equal performance. It’s paired with a bleached kraft release liner made from up to 30% post-consumer waste. 537 is a 4 mil polypropylene (PP) that is rated for 5 years outdoors (based on 2000 hours of Xenon arc testing).
In case you’re unfamiliar, PP is a recyclable thermoplastic polymer used in many different products. PP is rugged and resistant to different chemical solvents, acids, and bases. Its resin identification code is 5, and it’s recyclable.
On the other hand, the PVC that vinyl is made of is difficult to recycle, given the presence of additives like heavy metals lead and cadmium. In fact, PVC is considered a contaminant in other recycling streams. Currently, less than 1% of PVC is recycled.
We’re delighted to bring this sustainable vinyl label alternative to our customers. If you’re looking for a greener alternative to vinyl, with equivalent outdoor durability, ask The Label Experts about 537 – a truly environment friendly label!
