Warehouse Manager Chris needed help with cart labels—yesterday—as his team sped towards launching inventory tracking with Epicor’s WMS across multiple distribution centers.
Seeking a Smarter Process
Chris R. reached out to us when he found himself in an evolving workplace situation. Timbermen’s, an employee-owned manufacturer and distributor of building materials, was getting ready to, once again, expand their operations. As Warehouse Manager, Chris was tasked with implementing a new warehouse management system (WMS) to more efficiently track inventory. This new technology was becoming increasingly important for the business as they opened new warehouses.
Implementing Epicor’s WMS
After much research, Timbermen’s chose their WMS. Epicor had all the technology needed to manage inventory (and more) across multiple distribution centers. It also proved to be user-friendly and would eventually make everyone’s jobs a little easier. “The hardest step was the initial labeling project. We had to label racks, carts, units, floors, and more. We needed some labels to be removable and others to be permanent. Epicor referred us to Electronic Imaging Materials as a preferred label supplier, and that connection was a lifesaver,” Chris explains.
Finding the Right Cart Labels—And More!
Chris remembers feeling anxious about the project when he first called EIM. “I wasn’t quite sure how to explain everything I needed beyond inventory labels, and I was on a tight timeline. When an actual person answered the phone, I was caught off-guard! All I had to say was ‘cart labels’ and ‘Epicor’ and Erin walked me through everything from there.” Chris was also surprised by all the label options to choose from; magnetic labels, cart tags, and permanent labels, all with barcodes for scanning and tracking.
“Erin sent out a sample pack with the cart labels and other materials we discussed that same day. I was able to test them directly on our surfaces and found exactly what we needed very quickly. The process could not have been any easier,” Chris says.
Delivering Excellence with Epicor Warehouse Management
Now Timbermen’s can easily manage inventory, networks, logistics, pricing, rebates, and more. Chris states, “One of the most impactful gains with Epicor’s WMS is that we now have reliable, trackable data and can anticipate customer needs.” Tracking this data also makes reordering labels a simple task for Chris. The Epicor solution streamlines business processes and helps their employees operate more efficiently.
“The technology enables the continuous evolution of our business,” he says. “I feel like we’re well prepared for the future because we’re now a data-driven distributor.”
